Just Too Tired!!

Have you ever been so tired that you can’t do anything of any significance?  You can hold up a book.  You can stare at a TV screen.  You can feebly hold up one end of a conversation…as long as it doesn’t involve more than two syllable words.

That’s the way I feel right now.

So I’m not going to write anything today of significance (if I ever do), because I know that if I did, it would come out sounding inane and inappropriate.

The last few days were some pretty intense, important board meetings at my house for Christian Associates as we begin the search process for a new President for our organization.  It is a task not to be taken lightly, and the Board of Directors, of which I am a part, do take it very seriously.  We spent several hours this past Sunday afternoon praying together, something very sweet and wonderful that we don’t get to do very often because of time and distance restraints.  We came from the U.K., the Netherlands, Washington state, Orange County, and locally to sit in my living room and ask the Lord to make us as unified as nine people can be during times like this.

Then we went out to dinner and enjoyed one another’s company socially.

Then we came back the next morning and, with help from a dear friend and brilliant facilitator, we spent five hours nailing down the key elements to the job description, the search itself, and the timeline of it all.  Plus the rest of the board business that must be dealt with every quarter.

By the time everyone left who wasn’t staying overnight at my house, we had accomplished all that we set out to do…and we were tired.  Some of us still had work to do later that afternoon to finalize the document that is being sent out today to the staff.  I was on the phone off and on all day yesterday as part of my responsibility as Chairman of the Board and current Interim President of the organization until we do find a new President.

So I’m tired, and I’m not ashamed of my tiredness because it comes from some hard and good work.

Maybe next week I’ll have something brilliant to say, something that will make your day and justify your reading this blog.

Right now, I just want to take a nap.

  1. Glad to read this, now I appreciate and understand more of what you have been through the last few days. May God give you sweet rest. Love Sue
